On the 8th of March we welcomed many international women to International Women’s Day 2019 https://www.facebook.com/events/789376511396899/ at Café Cadeau in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. Our aim was to celebrate women and girls, their limitless imagination, their joyous dreams and their boundless strength. This day of talks, workshops and all important networking was towards celebrating us now, and also helping upcoming generations around the world. The event featured talks and workshops by ten top female speakers to inspire, inform and help open the possibilities for us all to work together towards the theme for International Women’s Day 2019 – Balance for Better – a gender balanced world by 2030.Donations made through ticket sales went towards helping girls in rural India to gain an education: https://heathergartside.com/2019/02/28/the-village-school-project-2019/More details on the event: https://heathergartside.com/2019/03/10/iwd2019-copenhagen/
K.I.N.D championed it’s own #BalanceforBetter campaign on Facebook @kindenmark and Instagram @kindenmark2019. The interest and response created by this event (which was organised in one month by Heather Gartside with further publicity by The International Denmark newspaper) was tremendous. Further events for gender parity and raising funds for scholarships for girls in rural India will continue throughout the year.
April 22nd – Happy B’EARTH DAY Walk
8 million tonnes of plastic ends up in the world’s oceans every year! Plastic is not so fantastic when it pollutes your favourite beach or the sea where you swim. That’s the ‘equivalent to five grocery bags filled with plastic for every foot of coastline in the world.
K.I.N.Denmark international community, in conjunction with The International Denmark newspaper, has creating an event to mark EARTH DAY on Sunday the 22nd of April 2019. We’ll meet from 11:00 – 15:00 to clean a beach, the stunning beaches which stretch from Dronningmølle beach up to Hørnbæk. We’ll walk the walk, talk the talk, collect any trash and take a mindful meditation by our beautiful ocean. The walk is mildly rigorous, so families please be aware that there’s seven kilometres to cover. Bring refreshments, we’ll provide trash bags and gloves. Once in Hørnbæk you can take a train onwards, or back to your vehicles parked at Dronningmølle strand car park.
